I can't even count the ways God tried to get my attention over the years. If we went to a sales award dinner, the Number One National Salesman in the company would thank God in his acceptance speech and tell the crowd that it was prayer and faith that got him to to the top.
When I had to go the hospital for a mysterious illness, my roommate in the next bed was the most angelic person you ever met, with her bible on her tray table. She would save me treats from her tray. She would come straighten my covers. She would check on me. Honestly, her side of the room seemed to glow, and when she was released, it felt like the light left the room with her. " See?" God was saying. "See how dark it is without me? Pay attention.
If I was searching for a book to read, I would come upon a biography of a great missionary like Corrie Ten Boom whose family hid Jews from the Germans during the war. They were all caught and sent to concentration camps to die, but somehow Corrie survived. Years later she came back to Germany to preach forgiveness to the very Germans who killed her family. I would read and cry and read some more. Looking back through the years, I see God was everywhere I turned. (read more.)

Scientists Surprised that Saturn's Rings Are Birthing New Baby Moons
Baby moons
made of icedust
dance around a ring
in a circle of rings
so majestic
man has ever
yearned to know
their secret.
The secret
of the shining bands
that circle Saturn,
still spinning off
dust, energy and ice
making moonlets
that hug the mother ring
that gave them birth.
Newborns in space
New moons in time
whispering the secret
God is not
done.
"An MSNBC story from June 9th states that scientists have discovered that
Saturn's rings have been birthing Moons from energy reactions that are occurring
with dust and ice found on the rings. The discovery of Saturn's moons being the
offspring of its rings is a new concept for scientists. Kim Clement's prophecy,
which was spoken before the news was announced, specifically refers to Saturn's
rings, dust, ice and energy."

Simple Joys Are Enough
Circumstances any better?
Not really.
Beauty on the horizon?
Not exactly.
Love in the air?
Not especially.
Fortunes changing?
Not particularly.
Then why this
feeling of well being?
Must be because
God is good and
simple joys are enough:
A friend back safely
A baby born strong
A child getting help
A hug that lasts all day
The sun coming out.
It's the kind of peace
that comes
without shouting.
Isaiah 26:3
Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

Did You Ask to Be Born?
If you could have asked
wouldn't you ask to be born?
So you could learn to love?
If you got to choose
wouldn't you choose to be born,
and face both pain and joy?
Not miss a minute
of the love of a child,
a summer wind
or a prayer that sang to the sky
Too, some long lonely days,
sorrow deeper than deep
and longing unfulfilled
Yet I think though you knew
of both the pain and the joy
you would ask to be born
again.
wouldn't you ask to be born?
So you could learn to love?
If you got to choose

Yet I think though you knew
of both the pain and the joy

again.
I hear it all the time: "Well, you know I didn't ask to be born," or she or he "didn't ask to be born." The implication being, so it's not her fault. So don't blame him. So someone should make it up to them. But I'm not sure that's true. I am sure that if I could have asked to be born, I would have. Read comments about this question here.

"In God Is Our Trust" -- a Marine Sings the 4th Verse of the Star Spangled Banner
Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war's desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
Now, the Marine sings it: (YouTube clip)

The White Light Around You
There, when you moved your head I saw it.
All around you was a glow.
A halo of white light.
Tremulous at first,
but then growing strong.
There, when you stood
it was above you
your head crowned
with a shimmering
white light . . .
